2017 NBA Draft Night Trade Ideas for Every Team (2/13)

on

Boston Gets: Paul George, Al Jefferson, 18th overall pick

Indiana Gets: 1st overall pick, Jae Crowder, Avery Bradley, Tyler Zeller

Why Boston Trades

Boston Depth
Isaiah Thomas Terry Rozier Demetrius Jackson
Jaylen Brown Marcus Smart James Young?
Paul George Jonas Jerebko? Gerald Green?
Amir Johnson? Kelly Olynyk? Jordan Mickey
Al Horford Al Jefferson 18th Overall Pick

With this trade Boston finally gets another superstar. Paul George could be the guy who takes Boston to the next level. He nearly beat LeBron in 2013 with David West, Roy Hibbert, and George Hill. If George finds his two-way dominant ways again, than he could certainly beat a declining James with this talented Celtics team. This trade also allows for Jaylen Brown to come into the starting line-up after a very encouraging rookie season, but if he fails to live up to expectations, then Marcus Smart is right there to back him up. Getting Al Jefferson back provides for a source of post scoring when Al Horford goes out of the game. The 18th pick accounts can be used to plug any of their free agency holes, as well as giving Boston even more long term potential

Why Indiana Trades

Indiana Depth
Jeff Teague? Lance Stephenson Aaron Brooks?
Avery Bradley Markelle Fultz Monta Ellis
Jae Crowder C.J. Miles Rodney Stuckey
Thaddeus Young Glenn Robinson Lavoy Allen
Myles Turner Tyler Zeller Kevin Seraphin

It makes sense to trade Paul George while they can still get return for him. Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, TylerZeller, and the 1st Overall Pick (likely Markelle Fultz, is great return. Each of those players save for Zeller is an above average starter at their position, and Faultz has superstar potential. If Indiana can keep Teague, then they would have one of the most complete starting line-ups in the NBA, and there is no reason they couldn’t beat the 40-42 record from last season. Bradley and Crowder are excellent defenders, and they provide about 30 combined points per game on efficient shooting for perimter players. Zeller is a 7’0″ sizable center who started effectively for Boston in 2015. Take this great package for George before he leaves anyways.
